This course is designed for students to gain the skills and qualifications to operate an excavator for the Civil Construction, Mining, Building, Facilities and Asset Management industries. We offer competitive pricing on all our courses and are happy to negotiate where more than one course or more than one student will be completing the course.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be offered providing suitable evidence is supplied. Discuss this with our support staff prior to beginning the course. Upon completion of the course you will be provided with a Photo identification card detailing your qualifications and a certificate demonstrating a Statement of Attainment (SOA)

Course Outline
1. Plan and prepare for belly dump truck operations
1.1 Access, interpret and apply conducting belly dump truck operations documentation
1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
1.3 Identify hazards and environmental issues, assess the risk and implement control measures in line with workplace policies
1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
1.5 Access, interpret and apply required geological and survey data in accordance with workplace requirements and safe work practices
1.6 Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity
2. Operate belly dump truck in line with established requirements
2.1 Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures
2.2 Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures
2.3 Drive and operate belly dump truck using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions, and according to workplace procedures
2.4 Monitor and manage equipment performance using indicators and alarms in line with manufacturers’ specifications
2.5 Monitor hazards and risks during operations, and ensure safety to self, others, plant and equipment
3. Load, haul and dump materials
3.1 Position belly dump truck under loading unit and load vehicle
3.2 Carry out approved haulage operations in a safe manner
3.3 Control gate opening and vehicle speed to create even spread of material when dumping
3.4 Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures
4. Conduct housekeeping activities
4.1 Clear work area in line with workplace procedures
4.2 Manage and/or report hazards to maintain a safe working environment
4.3 Complete and file or distribute documentation in a manner that complies with workplace practices
