Course Outline
1. Plan and prepare for bulk water truck operations
1.1 Access, interpret and apply bulk water truck operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
1.5 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
2. Operate truck
2.1 Carry out pre-start, start-up, park-up, shutdown, and secure equipment procedures
2.2 Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
2.3 Select and modify the operating technique to appropriately meet changing work conditions
2.4 Drive truck within recommended speed, engine capability and limitations
2.5 Act on or report monitoring systems and alarms
2.6 Continually monitor hazards and risks, and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
3. Load, haul and distribute water
3.1 Position water cart at load and discharge/distribution points
3.2 Load water cart to within the authorised carrying capacity and to suit the site and task conditions
3.3 Carry out water haulage operations efficiently, safely and smoothly avoiding surge and sway
3.4 Discharge/distribute water efficiently in accordance with requirements and procedures
3.5 Monitor and maintain discharge and distribution systems throughout the operations
3.6 Complete the work plan within the operating capacity of the equipment
4. Carry out machine operator maintenance
4.1 Prepare machine for maintenance
4.2 Conduct inspection and fault finding
4.3 Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks
4.4 Return machine to service
4.5 Process written maintenance records
5. Conduct housekeeping activities
5.1 Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials
5.2 Manage/report hazards, and maintain a safe working environment
5.3 Process records
