Conduct Paver Screeding Operations

This course is designed for students to gain the skills and qualifications to conduct paver screeding operations for the Civil Construction, Mining, Building, Facilities and Asset Management industries. We offer competitive pricing on all our courses and are happy to negotiate where more than one course or more than one student will be completing the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be offered providing suitable evidence is supplied. Discuss this with our support staff prior to beginning the course. Upon completion of the course you will be provided with a Photo identification card detailing your qualifications and a certificate demonstrating a Statement of Attainment (SOA)

Course Outline

1. Prepare to conduct paver screeding operations

1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements

1.2 Access, interpret and apply paver screeding operations documentation and confirm work activity is compliant

1.3 Identify environmental issues and potential hazards, and assess and address risks within scope of own role and according to workplace procedures

1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities

1.5 Confirm and comply with environmental protection, safety and traffic management signage requirements

1.6 Select plant, tools and equipment required for tasks, and check for faults within scope of own role and report or rectify in scope of own role

1.7 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and identify steps required in case of fire, accident and other emergencies

2. Set up paver screed

2.1 Set equipment to required levels to lay material on surface according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements

2.2 Set electronic levelling equipment and check level

2.3 Set heating controls for screed according to workplace procedures

2.4 Set screed controls for operation according to workplace procedures

3. Operate paver screed

3.1 Adjust screed during operation as required

3.2 Identify and rectify faults in the mat in scope of own role and notify paver operator of problems with mat as required

3.3 Monitor work of rake hands and rollers

3.4 Maintain communication with paver operator monitoring job progress

3.5 Perform operator maintenance according to workplace procedures

4. Clean up

4.1 Handle and dispose of waste material as required according to workplace procedures and environmental requirements

4.2 Clear work area and dispose of and recycle materials as required according to workplace procedures and environmental requirements

4.3 Clean, check, perform maintenance on in scope of own role, and store plant, tools and equipment

4.4 Carry out housekeeping to workplace requirements
