This course is designed for students to gain the skills and qualifications to conduct stabiliser operations for the Civil Construction, Mining, Building, Facilities and Asset Management industries. Course Outline
1. Plan and prepare to conduct stabiliser operations
1.1 Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to conduct stabiliser operations and confirm work activity is compliant
1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site requirements
1.5 Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage requirements
1.6 Select plant, tools and equipment required to carry out tasks and check for faults
2. Conduct stabiliser pre-operational checks
2.1 Carry out pre-start, start-up procedures according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
2.2 Check stabiliser controls and functions according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
2.3 Rectify or report any faults identified according to site requirements
3. Operate stabiliser
3.1 Identify site hazards associated with stabiliser operations and implement the requirements, controls to minimise risks
3.2 Identify and apply operating techniques to specified output and tolerances according to manufacturer specifications and site and job requirements
3.3 Monitor and confirm operation of stabiliser against job requirements
3.4 Operate stabiliser according to manufacturer specifications and site and job requirements
3.5 Monitor movements and hazards and identify and communicate changes to work environment according to site requirements
4. Relocate stabiliser
4.1 Move stabiliser between worksites according to job and site requirements
4.2 Prepare stabiliser for relocation according to manufacturer specifications and site and job requirements
4.3 Carry out park and shutdown procedures according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
5. Carry out plant maintenance
5.1 Conduct inspection and fault finding according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
5.2 Carry out routine operational servicing and lubrication tasks according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
5.3 Carry out minor maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
5.4 Record machine performance according to site requirements
6. Conduct clean up activities
6.1 Clear work area and recycle or dispose of materials according to site requirements
6.2 Clean, check, maintain and store plant, tools and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
